The Calgary Raiders are the 2026 Williams Cup champions.

After the round robin determined the playoff seeding, the Raiders put together a dominant run through the double-elimination bracket, winning three straight playoff games and outscoring their opponents 19-1 on their way to the title.

Their championship run included shutout victories over the Calgary Jays and Calgary Pirates before meeting the Pirates once again in Sunday’s championship game, where the Raiders finished the job with a 6-1 victory.

Raiders Open Playoffs With Shutout of Jays

The second- and third-place teams from the round robin met in one of the opening playoff matchups, with the Calgary Raiders defeating the Calgary Jays 4-0.

For four innings, the two clubs were locked in a scoreless battle before the Raiders finally broke through in the fifth.

Jordan Asselin opened the scoring with a solo home run to left field before Jamie Scholten delivered a two-run single. The Raiders added another run later in the inning to take complete control.

Asselin was equally impressive in the circle. He held the Jays to just three hits over six shutout innings while striking out six and issuing no walks.

Chax Tshambani went the distance for Calgary, allowing six hits and four runs while striking out three.

The victory moved the Raiders into the winners-bracket final.

Pirates Stay Alive While Raiders Take Control

On the other side of the bracket, the Calgary Pirates opened their playoff run with a 5-3 victory over the Calgary Bandits, sending the Bandits into the elimination side of the bracket.

That set up a winners-bracket meeting between the Pirates and Raiders.

The Raiders delivered one of the most convincing performances of the tournament, shutting out the Pirates 9-0 to remain undefeated and secure their place in the championship game.

With the loss, the Pirates were forced into the losers bracket and would need to fight their way back for another opportunity at Calgary.

Jays Eliminate Bandits

Facing elimination, the Calgary Jays responded in emphatic fashion.

The Jays defeated the Calgary Bandits 13-0, ending the Bandits’ Williams Cup run and keeping the Jays alive in the tournament.

That victory set up a showdown between the Jays and Pirates, with the winner advancing to face the Raiders for the championship.

Pirates Earn Their Rematch

With their season on the line, the Pirates bounced back from their loss to the Raiders and defeated the Calgary Jays 10-5.

The victory eliminated the Jays and sent the Pirates back to the championship game for a rematch against the undefeated Raiders.

The Pirates had taken the long road to the final, defeating the Bandits, dropping into the losers bracket following their loss to the Raiders, and then surviving a must-win game against the Jays.

Waiting for them was a Raiders club that had yet to surrender a run in the playoff bracket.

Asselin Powers Raiders to Williams Cup Championship

The championship belonged to Jordan Asselin and the Calgary Raiders.

Asselin hit two home runs and drove in four runs as the Raiders defeated the Pirates 6-1 on Diamond 1 to capture the 2026 Williams Cup Championship.

The Raiders wasted little time getting started.

Asselin launched a two-run home run to centre field in the first inning to give the Raiders an early advantage. The Raiders added three more in the third, with Cam Cote driving in a run on a double before Asselin struck again, belting his second two-run homer of the game.

That gave the Raiders all the offence they would need.

Asselin also took care of business in the circle, throwing all seven innings and allowing just one run on six hits while striking out eight and walking three.

Jeremy Hickey went six innings for the Pirates, allowing six runs on nine hits while striking out five without issuing a walk.

Dixon Tarr and Tony Chiarot each recorded multiple hits for the Raiders, while Colin McMurdo went 2-for-3 to lead the Pirates offensively.

The Raiders were also flawless defensively, turning two double plays and finishing the championship game without an error.

Across three playoff games, the Raiders went 3-0, scored 19 runs, surrendered just one, and posted shutouts in each of their first two postseason games.

After navigating the winners bracket without a loss, The Raiders capped the weekend with one final statement against a Pirates team that had battled its way back for a second opportunity.
