CISA Celebrates Successful 2026 U19 Women’s Canadian Fast Pitch Championship at Crawford’s Fields

The Calgary Industrial Softball Association is proud to celebrate the successful completion of the 2026 U19 Women’s Canadian Fast Pitch Championship, held August 5–9 in Calgary and hosted by CISA at Crawford’s Fields.

For five memorable days, some of the top young female fastpitch players in the country came together in Calgary to compete for a Canadian championship. Sixteen teams representing Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec took part, bringing athletes, coaches, families, officials and supporters from across Canada to our ballpark.

Hosting a Softball Canada national championship represented another significant milestone for CISA and Crawford’s Fields. What began months earlier with planning, preparation and countless hours of work came together as our diamonds welcomed the next generation of Canadian fastpitch talent for a week of outstanding competition.

Alberta Claims Gold on Home Soil

After a highly competitive preliminary round, eight teams advanced into the championship bracket, setting the stage for an exciting weekend of playoff softball.

The Edmonton River City Hornets entered the playoff round after posting a 6-1 preliminary record. They opened the championship bracket with a tight 4-3 victory over the White Rock Renegades 07 before defeating the Edmonton Warriors U19 11-3 to advance directly to Sunday's national championship game.

The Fraser Valley Fusion 2008 battled their way through the other side of the bracket, defeating the Saskatoon Selects 5-4, Whitby Eagles 19-2 and Cloverdale Fury 07A 6-2. The Fusion then shut out the Edmonton Warriors 8-0 in Sunday's bronze-medal game to earn their opportunity to play for gold.

In the championship final, the River City Hornets completed their impressive run with a 9-2 victory over Fraser Valley Fusion 2008, securing the 2026 U19 Women's Canadian Fast Pitch Championship.

The final medal standings were:

• 🥇 Gold — Edmonton River City Hornets (Alberta)

  

• 🥈 Silver — Fraser Valley Fusion 2008 (British Columbia)

  

• 🥉 Bronze — Edmonton Warriors U19 (Alberta)

  

The result gave Alberta two places on the national podium and provided a fitting conclusion to an outstanding week of Canadian fastpitch in Calgary.

A Showcase of Canadian Women’s Fastpitch

Beyond the final standings, the championship was about much more than wins and losses.

Throughout the week, Crawford’s Fields provided a stage for talented young athletes from across the country to compete at the national level, build friendships and represent their teams, communities and provinces.

For CISA, hosting the championship also provided an opportunity to showcase Calgary’s fastpitch community on a national stage. When the association first announced the championship, one of the goals was to demonstrate that Crawford’s Fields and the Calgary softball community were capable of delivering a first-class national event. The successful completion of the tournament was a tremendous reflection of that commitment.

Softball Canada also recognized the outstanding individual performances from throughout the championship with its official 2026 U19 Women’s Championship Awards, honouring athletes whose performances stood out during the national tournament.

Most importantly, CISA extends its sincerest thanks to every volunteer whose unwavering dedication and support helped make this championship a success.

Events of this magnitude simply do not happen without people willing to give their time.

From months of planning leading up to the championship to early mornings, long days and late evenings throughout tournament week, our volunteers answered the call. Whether preparing and maintaining the diamonds, working the gates, supporting tournament operations, helping teams and spectators, assisting officials, managing facilities, coordinating behind the scenes or stepping in wherever another set of hands was needed, every contribution mattered.

The condition of the fields, the organization of the event and the welcoming atmosphere experienced by visitors to Crawford’s Fields were a direct reflection of the pride our volunteers take in CISA and in the game of fastpitch.

To everyone who gave their time, energy and expertise: thank you.

Your unwavering dedication allowed CISA to welcome athletes and families from across Canada and provide them with the national championship experience they deserved. This championship belongs just as much to the volunteers who worked behind the scenes as it does to those who competed between the lines.
