Broken Bow Blazers and Saskatoon Merchants Named Stampede City Stomp Co-Champions

Ten-team tournament delivers a full weekend of fastpitch action despite weather forcing an early finish

The 2026 Stampede City Stomp brought an exciting weekend of senior men’s fastpitch to Crawford’s Fields, welcoming 10 teams from across Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan.

With rain threatening to wash out Championship Sunday, tournament organizers adjusted the schedule and packed the remaining games into a full slate on Saturday. Teams battled throughout the day in an effort to complete as much of the championship bracket as possible before the weather arrived.

The Broken Bow Blazers of Prince George, British Columbia, entered the playoff round as the tournament’s top seed after finishing pool play with a perfect 3–0 record. The Blazers defeated the Calgary Pirates 9–2 in the quarter-final before holding off Delisle Pride U23 in a tightly contested 8–7 semi-final.

On the other side of the bracket, the Saskatoon Merchants of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, found their stride when the elimination games began. The Merchants recorded back-to-back shutouts, defeating the Calgary Raiders 7–0 in the quarter-final and the Calgary Jays 7–0 in the semi-final to earn their place in the championship game.

Unfortunately, after a long day of fastpitch and a heavily compressed schedule, darkness prevented the championship game from being safely completed Saturday evening. With rain still expected on Sunday and no opportunity remaining to resume play, the Broken Bow Blazers and Saskatoon Merchants were officially named 2026 Stampede City Stomp co-champions.

Although the tournament did not receive the championship finish everyone had hoped for, the weekend was still a tremendous success. Fans were treated to competitive games, outstanding pitching, timely hitting and teams battling through a demanding schedule.
